Importance Hypertension is a prevalent condition that affects approximately 45% of the adult US population and most commonly diagnosed at outpatient office visits. major contributing risk factor for heart failure, myocardial infarction, stroke, chronic kidney disease. Objective To reaffirm its 2015 recommendation, Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) commissioned systematic review to evaluate benefits harms screening hypertension in adults, accuracy blood pressure measurement initial screening, various confirmatory methods. Population Adults 18 years or older without known hypertension. Evidence Assessment Using reaffirmation deliberation process, USPSTF concludes with high certainty adults has substantial net benefit. Recommendation The recommends measurement. obtaining measurements outside clinical setting diagnostic confirmation before starting treatment. (A recommendation)
